Travel health in Springfield Central

Travel vaccinations in Springfield, planned before you go.

Heading overseas from Springfield? See a GP in Springfield Central before you fly. Your destinations, plans, health and vaccination history all go into advice that fits your trip.

  • Southern Cross Circuit, Springfield Central
  • Open 7 days
  • Weekdays from 7:30 AM

Good travel advice starts with your plans.

A family holiday, a backpacking trip and a long stint working overseas all call for different advice. Your GP talks through where you're going and what you'll be doing before recommending anything.

01

Destinations and stopovers

Every country on your route, including transit stops, plus how long you'll be there and the season you travel in.

02

The way you travel

Staying in cities, heading into rural areas, visiting relatives, working, volunteering or spending time outdoors can each raise different questions.

03

Your health and history

Your age, health conditions, medicines, allergies, pregnancy plans and past vaccinations help your GP work out what may suit you.

04

Time before you leave

Some vaccination courses have more than one dose, and some need time to work. Booking early gives you more options and less rushing.

A few things to have on hand.

It's easy to forget the transit stop or the side trip you added last minute. Bringing the full picture helps your GP give advice that fits the whole trip.

  • Your full itinerary, with every destination, stopover and travel date
  • Any vaccination records or immunisation history you have
  • A current list of medicines, allergies and relevant health conditions
  • Plans for work, rural travel, animal contact or outdoor activities

About fees: Bulk billing depends on Medicare eligibility and the service provided. Reception can confirm any expected fee for a travel consultation before your appointment.

What Springfield travellers ask us.

Some quick answers to start with. Your GP will still go through your trip and health before recommending anything for you.

When should I book my travel health appointment?

Aim for 6 to 12 weeks before departure. That gives you time to plan and to finish any course that needs more than one dose. If you're leaving sooner, call reception now.

Where is the clinic?

We're at T02, 95 Southern Cross Cct, Springfield Central QLD 4300. The clinic is open Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Sunday 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please check with reception, as hours can change.

What should I bring?

Your full itinerary including stopovers and transit, any vaccination records, a list of your current medicines and allergies, relevant health history and your planned activities.

Which vaccinations are right for my trip?

There's no single list for everyone. Recommendations depend on your destinations, how long you're away, the season, what you'll be doing, your health and your vaccination history.

Can my children be seen before a family trip?

Yes. We see children as well as adults. Each traveller's advice depends on their own health and vaccination history, so let reception know how many of you are travelling when you book.

My flight is soon. Can I still come in?

Yes, get in touch now. What can be arranged depends on your destination, timing, health and vaccination history.

Is a travel consultation bulk billed?

Bulk billing depends on Medicare eligibility and the service provided. Call reception on (07) 3118 5881 to confirm any expected fee before you book.

Can I get a yellow fever vaccination certificate here?

Only an approved vaccination centre can give yellow fever vaccinations and certificates. Call reception before booking to check whether this is available at Springfield Doctors or whether you'll need another approved centre.
